No "U-turn sign" = cannot U-turn?

Was having a debate with a friend:

My theory is that a driver can u-turn as long as ther is no"No U-turn" sign.

But my friend argued that a driver can u-turn only when there's a u-turn sign.

So I asked: then what is the "No U-turn" sign good for?
Then my friend argued: what then is the "U-turn" sign good for?

Hmmm but serious la - the "u-turn" and the no "u-turn" sign must serve each's own purpose right? I mean, if both sign exist in this world, then they must be mutually exclusive of each other, and that only one of the situation below should occur:

a) U-turn can only be conducted at a "U-turn" sign; or
b) U-turn is disallowed only at the "No u-turn" sign.

So hor, which is correct huh? Question

I think no U turn sign usually only when the traffic lights dun have the "turn right" signal. Cos then can't really find a clear opening to u-turn. I hope u understand what i'm trying to say. LOL.

Then usually when there's no u-turn sign means its illegal.

u turn sign means can u-turn at coming junction. By right CANNOT u-turn at every junction, only can do it when you see the sign.

The no u-turn sign is a super notice to those who illegally do the u-turn at junctions, i think. Rolling Eyes

Got U-turn sign - can turn wif TP or no TP
Got (no u-turn) sign - can turn wif no TP around, not recommend wif TP
No sign to say can U-turn (like normal 4lanes, 2lane a side wif no divider - can do wifout TP around. but wif TP must see the situation, cause they can say u do dangerous manoeuver. Wink

near my hse got T-junction..

let's say, car A is attempting to u-turn at the T-junction.. but on his right, car B is on a 'left turn on red' scheme!! what happens? car A looks in front, no car, turn. car B looks right, no car, turn!

in Singapore, u can U-Turn only if there is a U-turn sign

other countries, the rule is that U-turn is allowed unless there is a 'no U-turn' sign

go into one of the carparks and turn around..

you could turn into tembeling road (shell station there) or katong shopping centre carpark and drive along those landed property and you'll end up on haig road again to choose left or right turn. careful not to just turn into any lane cuz some might not have through roads.
